WestJet – Bikes fly free…

So, bought our tickets to fly to Vancouver via WestJet. Turns out, panniers are going to be carry-on. The bikes are classified as our “one luggage” item which flies free (under 50 lbs). Kudos to WestJet who treats its customers this way, unlike the American fliers which charge $300+ per flight per bike. Air Canada is still decent at $50 per flight ($100 return), but who can argue with WestJet.

  1. Thanks for the tip. Didn’t realize there was such a difference in policies between carriers. But I’m still jealous of your trip….

  2. Cyclists need to get organized and publicize the environmental credentials of West Jet and Air Canada who are doing there part to reduce carbon emissions by encouraging fliers to cycle through Europe and other countries rather than doing there touring on big polluting buses or other hydro-carbon wasting machines.
