Request For Earlier Sat. A.M. Ride Time.

After talking to several riders, I’ve come to the conclusion that most would prefer to meet at the water tower at 7:00 A.M. rather than 8:00 A.M., at least until the shortness of daylight hours in the fall forces us to start later. I am formally requesting a 7:00 A.M. start time for all rides until Sept. 15. Any objections????? Please comment for or against, and if we agree, our next rides can start at 7:00 A.M..

  1. Im definately in favor of the earlier start to the rides longer than 80ks or so. I will be away for the next 2 so it wont matter much for me till mid August. For the record Jac, the ride today for the 4 who extended to St Malo was 110km (long way to St Malo) and average 32.8. Was a great morning for the ride altho we only did find food back in St Pierre.

  2. I’m in favor of 7:00 AM (someone remind me that I said that when I haul my sorry butt out of bed on Saturday morning…).
The ride Monday was fantastic! Thanks, guys, for pulling me along at breakneck speed.
And for the record, Le Routier in St. Pierre needs to become one of our regular breakfast destinations because the food was great (and lots of it…that was a little difficult to cart home on the bike later…).

  3. I am all for 7 am starts, means we are home earlier. The biggest reason we went to the 8 am starts was for those travelling from out of town to ride with us. It is a bigger disadvantage for them as they need to get up an hour earlier.
Haven’t seen a “got to leave it at 8 am” note. This weekend is a short saturday so that everyone can ride the longer Mudwaters on Sunday. I have heard that few of us are taking in the more expensive ride on Sunday, maybe we need to complete a longer ride this saturday.
    7 am start?

  4. OK then, let’s go for the 7:00 A.M. start time. Please change the
time(s) on the “Upcoming Events” schedule ASAP, so there won’t be any confusion.

  5. After a week of folding my tent at 5:30 AM and hitting the road by 6:30 AM, this sounds positively “cushie” :). I realized anew the benefits of the early morning ride (no wind, cool air, no traffic, the gentle rising sun) during my CANDISC adventure. The biggest challenge was the seriously bad coffee everywhere in ND – what is with that anyways?! Thank God for Paul from Wpg Cycling Club with his tiny little propane coffee brewer – gotta get me one of those.
However, if occasionally anyone wants to start later, just send me an e-mail the day before. Often the only thing waiting for me at the end of a Saturday ride is yard work, so I’m flexible.

  6. RJ. Please, please do a write-up on your cycling adventure in N.D. and post it. We are all anxious to hear how it was. Congratulations on getting Noreen’s bike back.
