Rain? Made of Sugar?

The Woodridge ride today became the LaBroquiere ride.  As only two (2) riders rode the rain.  Yes it was somewhat wet but it was also warm as we took turns pulling into the wind.

We spoke somewhat fondly of other MIT riders and past rain rides.  The only comment that was from the old code.  Just HTFU!

Again the wet ass, wee willy ride was worth every effort put forth as it allowed me a large breakfast back home.  Oh yea what made of sugar??

About bigjac

Just a middle-aged man whose blood pressure and cholesterol were out of wack and needed a tuneup, bad. Then I rekindled my love for riding a bike -- just the simple act of turning the cranks. What happened next is I met a lot of neat people who are as nuts as I am. Ride on.

  1. Just a bit of clarification here, concerning HTFU: Any sacred belief system, such as cycling, requires a set of scriptures or a codification so that followers know whether or not they are adequate in their faith and behaviour.
Cycling has provided this at “Velominati, Keepers of the Cog: THE RULES”. HTFU is RULE #5. Look it up. This is a family website.
    Some other rules are:
    Rule #9:
If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
    or
    Rule #11:
Family does not come first. The bike does.

  2. I did not keep the faith, I am not worthy, I surely need to HTFU! In my defense, I was preoccupied with the anticipation of rapture today and spent my time watching to see if my righteous neighbour was missing…

  3. Actually, Ron, when Jac and I found ourselves alone at the water tower on saturday morning, we thought you all had been raptured and we were the only bad asses left to suffer through the tribulation.

  4. Personally, I think you guy’s used to play Hockey WITHOUT head protection and took one to many pucks to the head?
Harden the F**k up? How about smarten the F**K up!! were not DUCKS!!!
    LMAO!!
Ron, did you find your neighbour?!?!?!?!

  5. Rode to Arnaud this morning (Noreen and a friend were singing in Church there). Good ride with the wind (East) either at my back or coming across. I don’t think I’ve ever had so many dead worms on my bike after a ride. The frame was a solid worm encrusted mess. I also learned the hard way what the downside is to using a hitch mount bike rack on gravel roads…stone chips on the frame! Ah well, the Colnago is getting some character.
I met an old guy at the Church service who told me tales of when he was bike courier for CN Rail in Winnipeg – delivering documents between company offices all over the City on a midnight shift. This was about 40 to 50 years ago. Go figure. I thought bike couriers were a recent phenomenon.
After feeling really “blue” yesterday, I felt great all day today. Gotta love those riding endorphin kicks! I think Jac & Jim had it right. Put on the rain gear and just get out there. A few years ago a good number of us would have been out…just need to find our passion again!
