enough already – when does spring start?

Bored silly with trainer and roller rides, if it wasn’t for the entertainment of Steven Harper throwing boulders through his glass house, I’d be losing my mind!   When will it snow so that I can ski?

  1. Ron, is that you at the front of the tour? I can’t tell who’s behind you, but you’re coming through loud and clear at the front.
Speaking of glass houses, we need to have our morning breakfast rides to get to the bottom of all these political storms! I guess I’ll have to invite everyone over for breakfast at my house so we can work on the issues.

  2. Ron,
In looking at the picture of you on the indoor trainer, I am reminded indirectly of Leonard Cohen’s lyrics,
“Like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choir,
I have tried in my way to be free……”

I say indirectly because the first line can be rewritten,
    “Like a hampster on a tire, ….”

  3. Yah! and also, in my recent experience, “Like a Mennonite taking salsa lessons…”

Two-Sacks, you are HARD CORE, I’ve seen you riding several times this fall and winter, no matter what the weather…I am waiting for my shock and awe (excuse my disgusting use of American military doctrine to supplant my own inadequate emotional expression…again, the Mennonite neurosis overwhelms) to turn to inspiration. So far, it’s not happening.

  4. This past year , I read Colin Angus’ book–“Beyond the Horizon: The Great Race to Finish the First Human-Powered Circumnavigation of the Planet| “, wherein he described cycling across Siberia in winter along marginal roads on a heavily burdened Norco Mountain bike. Now, THAT was inspiring. Nothing about my cycling outside in winter comes close to the challenge of Angus’ adventures. I highly recommend this book…it’s hard to put down once you get started. His wife (fiance at the time) joined him for part of the circumnavigation and she now has a book out about the row across the Atlantic Ocean.
