Canada’s Tara Whitten captures gold in omnium at world track cycling

APELDOORN, Netherlands – Canada’s Tara Whitten captured gold in the women’s omnium at the world track cycling championships for the second consecutive year Sunday, despite not winning any of the six races that make up the event.

The Edmonton cyclist was second in the flying lap, individual pursuit and scratch race and sealed her victory with a fifth place in the closing 500-metre time trial at the Omnisport velodrome.

I think we should all get those Canada Flag Collars for the next Headwaters 100! Honestly, you’d think the precious few times that Canadians hit the podium we would manage not to demean them and make them look like a pet that just got neutered.
