Brothers ( and Sister), Where Art Thou?

It’s saturday morning, 9:00 A.M. and there’s only two of us at the water tower.  Merle had arrived 5 minutes earlier (can you believe it??).  We waited til about ten after, then headed to Kleefeld via Ridge Road.  Although it was a touch chilly, riding conditions were remarkably pleasant.  I brought my “all weather” cyclocross bike and although I didn’t reveal it to Merle at the time, he really made me work, however he probably noticed I could only communicate in mono-sylabic grunts.  By the way, Merle has a new (almost) top of the line ride on order, which he will reveal to us next week—-carbon, dura-ace, the works. (Move over Curtis).

Now, if you would care to give your excuses for not showing up using the comments, I’ll evaluate them on originality and creativity, and send the best ones to the Wusses Hall of Fame.

  1. I have a valid excuse!!!! (Although my much less valid excuse was going to be that it was too FREAKING COLD and I was going to stay in my nice warm bed…)
However the dairy barn at Glenlea gave me a much more credible excuse by calling me at 6:30 am to come and treat a cow for milk fever. So, my tractor taxi ferried me into the now-surrounded-by-water research station when I arrived there and I spent my early morning running calcium into a cow named “Holly”.
That said, you would not have seen my wimpy, summer loving butt out there with both of you this morning. Sorry! 🙂 In fact, the weather today has inspired me to pen a poem which I will share with you all.

    When will winter go away?
    I hate the snow.
    Will spring ever come?
    I don’t know…

THE END…. I’m going to take my Prozac now…

  2. That’s incredible Val – can you believe that my Uncle called me early this morning to ask if I could rush over to his place to help him with delivering calves and he lives in Rosenort and I had to get the EMO to transport me with one of those amphibious things to his barn which was still on high ground and I yanked that calf out and just about made it back in time for the ride but the then the amphibious thingy broke down and we had to swim to the road and by the time I got home and changed and everything, well, it was just too late, uhm yeah, just too damn late, what a morning, yeah, that’s how it went. So, I ended up driving to Winnipeg and browsing bike shops for the rest of morning.

  3. and I will be attending the Community Pic up and Walk event this saturday morning, from 9 am – noon. But will be riding that afternoon for anyone else interested.
