I called Greg, my brother in-law, to get the low down on his recent trip to El Salvador. We had a great time chatting about his experience and much of it resonated with my own trip to India, back in 2007. He told me a touching story about the young woman who cleaned their beach house and how the gift of a bicycle changed her life in a significant way (she even slept on it for a while because she just couldn’t believe her good fortune). That got me to thinking about bicycles and social justice. A little web browsing lead me to a small but amazing NPO in Boston called Bikes Not Bombs. They are also presently recruiting for an Executive Director…..hmmmm, imagine combining a love of cycling with a passion for social justice. Maybe it’s time to play the card of being married to an America?
