So, I just got back yesterday from the “Bike for Bibles – Rocky Mountain Ride” and it was a fantastic experience (I can say that now AFTER getting over the Kootenay Pass) from both a physical accomplishment as well as a spiritual one.  The people on the ride were fantastic, great support and only one flat!  Fortunately the flat didn’t happen on any of the decents down.  I’m going to attempt to upload some pictures too – hopefully it works! If anyone in this group has ever considered this ride at all, I strongly encourage you to do it!!!!  See you all Saturday!(P.S.  Nice Bike Jac!!!!)

  1. Looks great Val – congratulations! I see you even managed to avoid changing your own flats 🙂 . As I sit around wasting another week of my vacation, I’m so kicking myself for not signing up for a ride somewhere…

  2. Yeah, I did manage to milk that “damsel in distress” aspect – I told Ralph he was my hero after changing out the tube. I actually have a picture of the four other helpful guys who later changed the whole tire! I love watching men work…

  3. You look like you’re having a great time, Val! Too bad MIT can’t do a group mountain pass ride. Glad you made it and lived to tell us the tale on Saturday.

  4. You go girl! First a great pull from Landmark to Hwy 59 at 37 km’s, now a mountian pass, who knows what is next.
Isn’t it amazing what people can do all because they ride a bike!

  5. I need to chime in here. I was one of the other riders on the Bike for Bibles ride (my bike is the other one in Val’s picture overlooking the lake). Poor Val was all worried that a “prairie girl” couldn’t keep up with us. Whatever. =) On the second day, after 160 kms including a fairly significant climb, Val takes a flyer and leads the whole pack into Nelson! Someone out there needs to tell this girl she should be racing (hint, hint, Val…) =)
