I was at business meetings for a week in Akron, PA. Boys will be boys and we compared exercise routines with each other at the meetings. The result was that I got invited to join a morning run with a couple of other guys because I was a “cyclist” and, therefore, obviously in good physical condition. They were doing a 5k run before breakfast. I haven’t even walked fast for about 4 months, but I thought I could knock off 5k without too much problem. Bad idea. I lasted about 2k, had to stop to catch my breath and then drag my sorry butt back to the guesthouse while the others carried on. How embarrassing. Evidently this training thing is for real. I am no longer talking about my cycling…and I don’t believe in muscle memory :(.
