Steinbach’s John Wiebe rides the Halifax-Peggy Cove ride

John Wiebe (third from left) from Steinbach, Manitoba, (a wanna-be MIT’er) cycled a 50k relay May 30, 2011 from Peggy’s Cove to Halifax – it was to celebrate the passing of a bill here in Nova Scotia that requires motorists to give cyclists 1 meter (3 feet) of space on the roadways/streets.
John reported that his friend found him a bike to use and away they went – there were 4 groups from different parts of Nova Scotia that rode to the legislature yesterday. This was John’s first time on a road bike – he loved it! He said this was sure different than riding on the flat prairies!

This  one picture would be good for your Chatter blog – I call it Mennonite in tights, Mountie in tights and Minister in tights (our friend is the Minister of Justice here in Nova Scotia).

John we look forward to hearing the stories on future MIT rides.

About bigjac

Just a middle-aged man whose blood pressure and cholesterol were out of wack and needed a tuneup, bad. Then I rekindled my love for riding a bike -- just the simple act of turning the cranks. What happened next is I met a lot of neat people who are as nuts as I am. Ride on.
